The Vermont Developmental Disabilities Council is pleased to announce a new scholarship program for parents and guardians interested in honing their skills as special education advocates. In partnership with the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates (COPAA), a national leader in special education advocacy, VTDDC is offering to support 12 Vermont family members who are ready to take their advocacy to the next level.
COPAA is the only nationwide peer-to-peer network focusing on the civil right to a quality education for students labeled with disabilities.
SEAT 1.0 is a 9-week course designed for people new to special education advocacy. For Vermont participants, there will be two additional classes focused on Vermont policies and practices. For the next session, all classes take place online on Fridays from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm from May 17 to August 2, 2019.
